Forecasters warned of high waves and dangerous rip currents along the Lake Erie shoreline Saturday as a round of severe thunderstorms pushed into Northeast Ohio.

The National Weather Service’s beach hazards statement covers Ashtabula, Lake, Cuyahoga and Lorain counties and remains in effect through Saturday evening. Waves of 4 to 6 feet are possible, with the highest surf on west-facing beaches.
