Skies over Cleveland brightened Saturday morning as the dense band of wildfire smoke that draped the region overnight began to thin, but air-quality monitors across Cuyahoga, Summit and Lake counties held in a range that could still trouble people with breathing conditions.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency said the advisory would remain in effect through the evening, with shifting winds expected to push the thickest haze east toward Pennsylvania by nightfall. Officials urged children, older adults and anyone with asthma or heart disease to limit prolonged time outdoors.
